I’ve been around horses since before I could walk.
Here’s a little bit about me and why I do what I do.
Hello, I am Cara, the owner & founder of CS Gypsy Horses.
CS GYPSY HORSES is a dream turned reality for me. I was born in Colorado and have been a ‘military brat’ for most my life, living all over the states, and even abroad in Europe for three years. I traveled to every country I could while there and got to witness many different cultures, mindsets, and ways of life.
I have learned a lot about life and being grateful for what I have in those short years. To never take things for granted and to love and be grateful for everyday.
My whole life, I‘ve always had a certain connection and interest in animals. I knew from a very young age I would be, wanted to, have a career working with animals. However, it wasn't until I was about thirteen years old, that horses became my true passion. After a long break from the equine world due to all our moves across the world, I had finally made my way back.
Shortly after that realization, Gypsy Horses became one of my all time favorite breeds. Ever since that day, I wanted my own. I have always loved the breed due to their beautiful hair, strong bodies, and most of all, their amazing temperaments. So, when I met my first mare, MS IZABEL, it was truly love at first sight.
Growing up, I didn’t have much representation or knowledge about people that looked like me in the horse industry. I plan on being that represtation I was lacking for little girls getting into horses, like I did so many years ago, and helping broaden the community for even more people to discover the power of horses!
I have had the amazing opportunity to learn about and work with many types of trainers and different disciplines. I believe, that the horse and human must both enjoy the “work” to truly excel at it. I have trained in many different disciplines including dressage, western pleasure, trick training, liberty work and driving to just name a few!
I have been fascinated since day one of my horse journey in equine behavior, and what went through these big, powerful, animal’s minds, and also how training methods affected them long term. Because of this I have been learning for many years to help me communicate better with the horses in my care. I always try to train with the horses mental and physical health in mind. The goal is to help shape horses in a way that will last them, and their humans, a lifetime.
My mission, and what my program is dedicated to is not just making but starting, raising, and nurturing happy and willing equine partners from the ground up.
I have had a few of my articles and writings published in various horse news, online and physical magazines, etc.
I took a whole summer to learn and work for FHF. Where I learned the basics of starting driving horses and polished up my knowledge of carriage work.
I graduated high school in May of 2023 and look forward to pursuing a higher degree of learning. I will be attending CSU (Colorado State University) who is one of the leading school in the nation when it comes to equine related education, science and degrees.
At CSU, I will be majoring in Equine Science and have a goal of getting a minimum of a Masters Degree. I look forward to using this knowledge and the education of studying under various trainers and professionals to allow me to create successful, healthy, and happy equine athletes.
Check back soon to see my ever increasing education in this incredible field!
